The CompuGeek LLC respects your privacy and is committed to handling personal information responsibly and securely. This Privacy Policy explains what information we may collect, how we use it, how it may be shared, and the choices available to you when you use our website, request support, communicate with us, or interact with The CompuGeek through services such as Facebook Messenger.
Information We May Collect
We may collect information that you provide directly to us, including your name, email address, telephone number, business name, service address, device information, support request details, appointment information, and other information you choose to provide.
When you communicate with The CompuGeek through Facebook Messenger or another supported communication service, we may receive information made available through that service, including your platform identifier, message content, attachments, timestamps, and information necessary to maintain the conversation.
When providing technical support, we may also receive information about computers, networks, software, operating systems, security products, error messages, service history, and other technical information necessary to diagnose or resolve an issue.
How We Use Information
We may use information we collect to:
Respond to technical support and service inquiries; schedule remote, onsite, or consultation appointments; provide and improve our services; maintain customer and service records; communicate about existing service requests or customer relationships; identify and route support needs; protect our systems and customers from fraud, abuse, or security threats; comply with legal obligations; and operate, troubleshoot, and improve The CompuGeek’s business systems.
Information collected through Facebook or Messenger is used primarily to respond to customer inquiries, identify potential service needs, coordinate support or scheduling, and maintain appropriate service records.
Nova Virtual Assistant and Automated Processing
The CompuGeek may use Nova, our virtual assistant, and other automated or AI-assisted systems to help receive, categorize, summarize, route, and respond to customer inquiries.
Routine inquiries may receive an automated or AI-assisted response. Requests involving sensitive information, unusual circumstances, complaints, security incidents, account compromise, custom pricing, or matters requiring professional judgment may be escalated to a human.
Automated systems are intended to assist customer service and business operations. They are not used as a substitute for human technical judgment when human review is appropriate.
Facebook and Meta Services
When you communicate with The CompuGeek through Facebook, Messenger, or another Meta service, information may also be processed by Meta Platforms, Inc. according to Meta’s own terms and privacy practices.
The CompuGeek may use authorized Meta APIs and business tools to receive and respond to messages and operate customer-service functionality. Meta’s Business Tools Terms require businesses using these tools to have appropriate rights, permissions, and lawful bases for the information they process.
The CompuGeek does not use unauthorized Facebook scraping or automated collection of private Facebook information as part of its customer support operations.
How Information May Be Shared
We may share information with service providers that help us operate our business, website, communications systems, scheduling systems, hosting infrastructure, security services, payment or accounting systems, and customer-support tools.
We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law or legal process; protect the security, rights, or property of The CompuGeek, our customers, or others; investigate fraud or misuse; or respond to an emergency involving safety or security.
Service providers are expected to process information only as necessary to provide their services and subject to applicable privacy and security requirements.
Data Retention
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to maintain legitimate business and service records, resolve disputes, protect security, and comply with legal obligations.
Our Nova Social Bridge Messenger intake system is designed so that normalized webhook event records may generally be retained for up to 30 days. Related customer, ticket, appointment, accounting, service-history, or security records may be retained longer when needed for legitimate business, contractual, security, or legal purposes.
Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
No internet-connected system can guarantee absolute security. Customers should avoid sending passwords, financial information, Social Security numbers, authentication codes, or other highly sensitive information through ordinary messaging services unless specifically instructed to use an approved secure method.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
Our website may use cookies and similar technologies for website functionality, security, preferences, analytics, and integrations.
Third-party services used by our website may also process information according to their own privacy policies. Where applicable law requires consent or additional choices regarding these technologies, we will provide appropriate controls.
Your Choices and Privacy Requests
You may contact The CompuGeek to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we maintain about you, subject to applicable legal, security, contractual, and record-retention requirements.
You may also stop communicating with us through Facebook Messenger at any time or use controls provided by Facebook or other communication platforms.
We may need to verify your identity before completing certain privacy or deletion requests.
Children’s Privacy
The CompuGeek’s services are not directed toward collecting personal information from children under 13 through our website, Messenger integrations, or automated customer-service systems.
If we learn that information from a child under 13 has been collected inappropriately, we will take reasonable steps to remove it.
